Any vehicle with a 1 & 7/8 inch tow bar (which is your standard size). Our Camp Easy trailer pods are light weight and easy to manoeuvre so you don’t need a special kind of vehicle. We also have a couple of special attachments if your tow bar is not a standard size, so please contact us beforehand to see if we can make it work. We also recommend you have experience towing a standard trailer.

Most people prefer to bring their own sleeping bag and pillow, but if you’re flying in and don’t want the hassle of bringing a big sleeping bag and puffy pillow in your luggage, you can hire a freshly laundered sleeping bag and pillow from us for an extra $35 per person, per hire.
Another option is to buy new when you get here from a local store like The Warehouse. We will happily take them off your hands at the end of your trip, launder them and donate them to those in need via The Wānaka Community Hub.

Too easy. We provide a manual with setup and use instructions for our camp equipment. And if you’re still struggling, give us a call! You’ll also find that our Kiwi campgrounds are full of super friendly and helpful camping enthusiasts who are always happy to help. The camping community is one of the things we love about New Zealand campgrounds!

Yes. Our bond is $500 per trailer hire, due three days before the hire commences. This will be refunded to the bank account you provide within five business days after the trailer and its contents is returned in its original condition, on the date in your contract.

We get it, sometimes gear gets accidentally damaged or left at the campground kitchen. We’ll simply deduct the price at cost from your bond if it’s anything beyond normal wear and tear. We don’t charge silly additional admin or mileage fees for replacing items and we’ll provide you with an invoice of what it costs us to replace or repair the item for total transparency.

Packing up before 10am at a campground is not everyone’s idea of fun, so we make it super easy. You don’t have to worry about cleaning the tent and putting everything back into their covers. Just fold it all up neatly so it doesn’t get all tangled up in the commute, pop it in the trailer and you’re on your way. All we ask is that your kitchenware is clean and free of food scraps, and you have deposited all your rubbish at your campground refuse before departure.

As experienced campers, we can wholehearted tell you trying to smush everything in your car is a real hassle. Less passenger comfort and practically impossible to access what you need quickly. There’s also ample room in the trailer to store all your luggage, too! With over 30 years of camping experience, we know a trailer is the best way to go.
-
When you look at what it would cost you to buy everything you need for camping, we are very affordable. Especially if you are just an occasional camper.
Another popular way to camp in the South Island is to hire a camper van. But hiring a camper van isn’t cheap, like people think. It could set you back over $300 per night and they often have 2 week minimum hire periods over the busy seasons.
We also reckon staying in a camper van or a cabin is less of an experience than tenting under the stars.

You can pick up and drop off your pod trailer anytime on your first and last day of hire between 8:30am and 5:30pm. We’re also happy to discuss times outside these hours, including off-peak pickups the night before, so you can get on the road first thing. Our main objective is to make camping as stress-free and easy as possible for you.
-
You can indeed, you can bring your own bike rack which we can put on the back of your trailer or hire a rack from us for $25 per trip. Contact us for more info.

Our tents are all premium quality with excellent waterproof ratings. Simply make sure you’ve got everything covered, and suss out a local rainy day activity to enjoy. Most campgrounds have TV rooms and plenty of covered areas to play cards or board games, too.
-
Our booking deposit is 25% of the total hire fee, payable at the time you accept the booking conditions we will send you. The remaining balance is due 21 days before hire commencement. The $500 bond per trailer hire is due three days before the hire commences.
-
Contact us as soon as you can. If we can accommodate your changes, we will. If you need to completely cancel your booking, the cancellation will incur a fee equal to the booking deposit. Cancellations within 21 days of the hire commencement will incur the full hire fee.
Alternatively, we can also move your booking to a more suitable time for you, if available. The first move is free of charge. Any additional changes are subject to a small admin fee.

Too easy. Flick us a message of the area or areas you want to explore within the South Island and we can create a personalised itinerary complete with suggested time frames and recommended campgrounds and activities.
-
Please call us! If we can’t accommodate your extension due to back to back bookings, late returns will be charged at 1.5 times the daily hire rate until the trailer is returned.
